BMW has introduced the second generation of younger crossover brand – X1. The car will be on the European market in October this year.
Changes in the model affected not only the design, but also the range of engines, transmissions, chassis design, equip.
First of all, note that the car is built on a new front-drive platform UKL1. Wheelbase cars decreased by 9 cm, and the increased width (2.3 cm) and a height (6.7 cm). Salon has become more spacious, and the trunk – a spacious (its volume has increased by 85 liters – to 505 liters). The rear seat can be folded in the ratio of 40:20:40, and as an option – longitudinal shift (13 cm) and tilt. Another option – a folding backrest of the front passenger seat. The maximum available amount of luggage is 1550 liters.
The lineup of engines – transversely mounted four-cylinder turbo petrol and diesel engines (all units meet the standards of Euro-6). Compared with the previous generation X1, fuel consumption and emissions reduced by up to 17%. The base gasoline engine – a two-liter (192 hp, 280 Nm) and the more powerful the machine produces the same volume has 231 hp and 350 Nm. Turbo diesel range consists of three two-liter engine with 150 hp impact (330 Nm, minimum fuel consumption – 3.7 l / 100 km), 190 hp (400 Nm) and 231 hp (450 nm). In addition, it is planned that in November this year will complement the range of engines, two three-cylinder unit – gasoline (136 hp) and diesel (116 hp).
Transmission – six-step “mechanics” (for the 150-horsepower diesel engine and three-cylinder engines) and vosmidiapazonny “machine» Steptronic (standard for the rest of the four-cylinder engines and diesel engine option for the base). Three-cylinder engine can be aggregated with the optional dedicated six ACP.
As before, the crossover will be available in single and four-wheel drive version. However, the basic version will now drive on the front axle (192-horsepower gasoline and 150 hp diesel). Thus, this crossover is the first model in the BMW X range with front wheel drive.
Wheel drive system xDrive new BMW X1 comprises a single-stage angle drive (PTO) on the gear of the front axle and the rear axle gearbox with electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch for the four-wheel drive. They are connected with each other two-part cardan shaft. Under normal driving conditions, the torque is directed to the front wheels. If necessary, the clutch all-wheel drive for a fraction of a second, and imperceptibly to the driver by means of an electro-hydraulic pump can transmit up to 100% of torque to the rear wheels. Ground clearance is 183 mm model.
Standard equipment of the new BMW X1 also includes 17-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, audio system with USB and AUX, the mode switch traffic iDrive system with separately mounted on the front of the 6.5-inch display.
